Fife High School teacher charged
FIFE - A 28-year-old business teacher at Fife High School has been charged with three counts of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, a misdemeanor.
Steven Weidenbach has been on paid administrative leave since October 26, when Fife police told school officials the teacher was under investigation.
Weidenbach was charged by Fife City Prosecutor John Rodabaugh after Rodabaugh reviewed the police investigation.
Police say the investigation began when a 17-year-old female student and her parents complained to police about what they said were sexually suggestive text messages sent by Weidenbach.
Police say during the investigation, two other female students were identified as having received similar messages.
School officials say Weidenbach has taught at Fife High School for about four years. They say he was adviser for the school’s Future Business Leaders of America club.
