Pac-10 Basketball Roundup | Kansas downs Arizona in OT

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Brandon Rush scored five of his 17 points in overtime, including two dunks on his surgically repaired knee, helping the fourth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks beat Arizona 76-72 in a nonconference game Sunday night.

“It felt pretty good to get out there and just play,” Rush said. “I’ve been looking forward to playing an entire game. I feel fine.”

Darrell Arthur scored 20 points and Mario Chalmers added 14 for Big 12 powerhouse Kansas (5-0), off to its best start since winning its first 14 games in 2004-05. Rodrick Stewart, a graduate of Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, had 13 points and six rebounds for the Jayhawks.

Arizona (3-2) rallied from an early deficit and kept it close to the end, thanks to Chase Budinger and Jerryd Bayless.

Budinger made six three-pointers and scored 27 points to help the Wildcats come back from an 11-point deficit, and Bayless connected on some key shots down the stretch to finish with 19.

“A lot of people doubt this team, but I think tonight’s performance shows that we can play with anybody in the country,” Budinger said.
